Strawberry cake block

Can't wait to show you a close-up of each block in my newest quilt design. Stay tuned, more blocks are coming.

Cake with yummy strawberry frosting... grab a cup of tea and follow along...

Black/White stripped fabric, soft white polka dot fabric and strawberry on the left, are made with fabrics designed by Holly Holderman from "Lakehouse Dry Goods."

I used the starch method of applique for this block.

Block a Month class starting in February 2011... I will be teaching this quilt at "Quilt'n Things" in Montrose Calif.

Check back in January for all the details!

Hi Barbara,Only the patterns for block #1, Lucky Clover, and block #2, Celtic Twist, are available for download right now. I'm still working on block #3, thanks to my silly foot, but will get photos and instructions posted for it by the end of next week. As to using the blocks, I'm planning to set mine all together with sashing to make my Irish quilt, but the blocks can be used any way you wish. Thanks for following along with me by June I'll have my blocks all done and hope to find fabric for the sashing (and maybe borders) in Ireland! Patterns for Lucky Clover and Celtic Twist are available .

Sorry that this isn’t following the plan of record. My Mom’s quilting group sort of has it’s dips in the summer because of so many of the ladies travelling on vacations. Maybe it is the case here, too?

What a special quilt! I made 2 memory quilts a year ago for sons of a friend. I know how hard it is to make something like that. You worry about decisions that you make that might inadvertently spark the wrong emotions. I didn’t hear from the recipients of my quilts for a few months. It turned out that they were a little too emotional for them (good, not bad). I recently heard that both boys sleep with their quilts every night and, once when the had guests using their beds, they removed the quilts. They will not let anyone else use their quilts. Those quilts were very difficult to make for a number of reasons but they were worth every single minute!

I love all of the different sized sqeruas! So playful and interesting to the eye . Who makes the pink and orange tree looking fabric? It looks so familiar (I love it!), but I can't place it.
